Anti-crime group Volunteers Against Crime and Corruption (VACC) filed plunder and graft charges against Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Director General Alan Purisima before the Office of the Ombudsman.

VACC Chairman Dante Jimenez filed the raps against Purisima Monday. He accused Purisima of filing a fabricated Statement of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth (SALN) for 2012 and 2013.

Jimenez alleged that Purisima misdeclared the market value of his mansion at only P3.7 million. The property in question could be easily worth P15 million, Jimenez said.

Jimenez also said Purisima owns a poultry farm with six houses costing a total of P90 million.

“By simply adding the value of his mansion and lot in San Leonardo, Nueva Ecija, and the modern poultry farm in Cabanatuan City and his assets he declared in his Statement of Assets, Liabilities Net Worth, respondent would have amassed wealth of around P120,000,000,” Jimenez said in the VACC complaint.

“Since his properties or wealth are highly and unconscionably disproportionate to his salary and income from business, it is presumed that they are ill-gotten.”

“Besides, the non-disclosure of his complete assets and net worth in his SALN is an evidence that respondent has accumulated his wealth irregularly, anomalously or even criminally. If otherwise, he has no reason not to completely disclose his assets, liabilities and net worth in his SALN.”

Jimenez and his group have earlier called for the PNP Chief’s resignation. Now they are urging the Ombudsman to place Purisima under preventive suspension.

“Finally, the VACC considers itself as a partner of the citizens and this Honorable Office in the battle against corruption in the government,” Jimenez said.
