Police still on alert as work resumes

The Philippine National Police remains on alert, this time for the return of people from the provinces.

Traffic is expected to build up on major roads and thoroughfares leading to Metro Manila as work resumes Wednesday. Meanwhile, classes are expected to resume Thursday onwards.

The police noted that there had been no major incident that disrupted this year’s commemoration of All Saint’s Day. Meanwhile, overall situation is peaceful over Metro Manila.

Malacanang earlier said government agencies will remain “on the ground” until Wednesday, when Filipinos return from the provinces.

Traffic officials noted a noticeable increase in volume of traffic along Northern Luzon Expressway (NLEX) early Wednesday though it was still relatively fast moving. Terminal authorities expect buses from Bicol and other provinces to start arriving within the day.

Police remained on alert at the bus terminals to secure the passengers as they return to Metro Manila.
