MANILA – An unidentified gunman shot Talisay Vice Mayor Florencio Manimtim Jr. at the SM Mall of Asia in Pasay City Thursday (December 15).
Police said the incident happened shortly before noon at the corner of Harbor Drive and Sunset Avenue.
The fifty-five year old Manimtim had just gotten off his black Toyota Grandia to go to the mall when the shooting occurred. He sustained 3 gunshot wounds, one on his side and two on his back.
Along with two companions, the gunman immediately rode a motorcycle without a plate.
SM traffic enforcers tried to catch the suspects but did not succeed.
His bodyguard and police escorts rushed Manimtim to nearby San Juan de Dios hospital where he is now in stable condition.
This is not the first attempt on Manimtim’s life. An attempt to assassinate him also happened in August 2010.
