MANILA, Philippines—The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) is still in need of 224 new policemen for Police Officer 1 (PO1) position to fill up the supplemental quota for this year, according to the agency’s official statement. Of these, 124 will be sent out to serve in Metro Manila, and the remaining 100 will be designated to various areas in Luzon.
The NCRPO, upon the orders of Police Director Leonardo A. Espina, has already made preparations to activate “city and municipal ad hoc screening committees” in charge of processing the “mandatory minimum requirements and other documents” to be submitted by police applicants.
“We are looking forward to achieve the ideal police-to-population ratio. The additional personnel will be a big help in fielding more police officers in the streets and keep the community safe,” Espina said in a statement.
According to Police Superintendent Arthur Felix Asis, human relations chief of NCRPO, PO1 position is open to all qualified men and women bearing Filipino citizenship, between 21-30 years old, baccalaureate degree holder, and with good moral character.
He added that applicants must have the necessary eligibilities for PO1 from the National Police Commission, Civil Service Commission, or Professional Regulatory Commission.
Interested applicants have to take note, however, that they must not have experienced any of the following: being dishonorably discharged from military employment, or on Absence Without Official Leave (AWOL), or dropped from rolls from the Philippine National Police service, or dismissed for cause from any civilian position in the government, or have pending criminal cases in court, or convicted with final judgment of an offense or crime involving moral turpitude, according to the NCRPO.
Qualified applicants are also required to apply at the Office of the Regional Personnel and Records Management Division, NCRPO Headquarters, Camp Bagong Diwa, Bicutan Taguig City. They must have an application folder that holds the following requirements: “duly-accomplished CSC Form 212, birth certificate authenticated by the NSO, report of rating of eligibility authenticated by the issuing authority, two pieces 2×2 black and white picture indicating the applicant’s name, transcript of scholastic records and diploma duly authenticated by the school registrar, clearances from Barangay, local police station, courts and NBI, and medical certificates,” the NCRPO said.
There was no confirmation that this need is due to the series of dismissal of rogue policemen of NCRPO since the incumbency of Police Director Espina.
