‘Quinta’ Lowered to a Tropical Depression; Several Flights Cancelled

MANILA, Philippines—Tropical storm “Quinta” (International name: Wukong) that made landfall in Leyte has weakened into a Tropical Depression, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) in its latest weather bulletin released on Wednesday, December 26, at 11 a.m.

PAGASA said that Quinta “continues to move over Western Visayas.” As of 10 a.m., the location of its center was seen in the vicinity of Roxas City, Capiz. It has maximum winds of 55 kph near the center, as it moves west at 24 kph.

By Thursday morning, it is forecast to be at 270 km west of Coron, Palawan and outside of the Philippine Area of Responsibility, while it is also seen to be at 820 km west of Coron, Palawan by Friday morning.

Public storm warning signal has been lowered, except for the following areas still under Signal No. 1: Mindoro Provinces, Romblon, Masbate, Burias Island, Northern Palawan, Calamian Group of Islands, Marinduque, Aklan, Capiz, Antique, Iloilo, Negros Provinces, and Guimaras.
