Shooting at MIT Campus

A shooting occurred at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) campus in Watertown on Thursday evening, according to a Pentagon Post report.

The MIT’s official website indeed confirmed that gunshots were reported at 10:48 p.m. outside of “Building 32 (Stata) and 76 (Koch) near Vassar and Main Streets.”

Pentagon Post reported that a police officer was said to be shot and killed at the MIT campus, but it also revealed that the Cambridge police’s tweets disclosing the death of the police officer “had perished.”  The police officer was said to be investigating a disturbance on the campus, also reported.

According to CNN, one suspect has been apprehended. People were earlier advised by police to stay indoors or to not leave their rooms at MIT yet, it also said. As of this writing, people are now allowed to resume to their normal activities.

The shooting came in the midst of an investigation on the twin bombing in Boston but there’s no confirmation if these two occurrences were interrelated.
