Female Police Officer Found Dead at Camp Crame

A female police officer was found dead with a bullet wound on her right temple on Thursday morning within the premises of the Philippine National Police Crime Laboratory in Camp Crame, Quezon City, according to an Inquirer.net report.

She was identified as Police Inspector Romelou Medina, 35, said to be assigned to the Crime Lab section of the Manila Police District and being trained on crime investigation at the time.

Medina’s body was found by her colleague PO1 Rhea Rebano.

PNP Public Information Office Chief Senior Supt. Theodore Sindac said in the report that the body was in a sitting position with her back against the wall near the office lavatory. Beside her body were her service firearm and bullet casing.

Senior Supt. Wilben Mayor, spokersperson of PNP chief Director General Alan Purisima, said they are still investigating the case and can’t conclude yet if it was a real case of suicide or not.

Medina joined the force as PO1 in December 2003 and then promoted as police inspector in 2012.

Medina’s husband Nelson, a security guard, with whom the former has five children, went to Camp Crame after learning of his wife’s death.

Police is still undergoing further investigation.
