The Impact of Super Typhoon Yolanda In Images and Words

Described as the strongest typhoon to hit the world this year, typhoon Yolanda (international name: Haiyan) slammed the Philippine archipelago, primarily the Visayas region and Palawan province, on November 8.

Hundreds of deaths have been recorded, thousands of houses ruined and families displaced, and estimated billions of properties damaged. Others estimate more or less 10,000 deaths in Leyte alone, where 80-90 percent of the province was devastated by the super typhoon.

Various reports said the number of casualties and estimated property damage are still expected to rise as search and rescue and response and relief operations are ongoing in affected areas.
