More Than 1,000 Families Evacuated as Floods Hit Carmen, Davao del Norte

More than a thousand families were displaced from their homes in Carmen, Davao del Norte as eight barangays were affected by floods on Easter Sunday, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said on its 8 p.m. update.

According to the NDRRMC report, Tuganay River overflowed, damaging a dike at the Mactan Channel.

Water rose quickly in barangays Ising, Mabaus, Salvacion, Anibongan, San Isidro, Alejal, Magsaysay, and New Camiling.

The displaced 1,302 families were evacuated to Barangay Alejal Gymnasium.
