The number of people dead from Tropical Storm Mario increased to 16, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reported.
In its 8 p.m. update on Tuesday, the NDRRMC also stated that 16 people were injured due to the typhoon while four others remain missing.
The state disaster response agency also reported that the total number of affected families reached more than 260,000 families or 1.181 persons in 1,224 barangays in 27 provinces of regions 1, 2, 3, 4-A, 4-B, 5, 7, CAR, and NCR.
NDRRMC added that more than 14,000 families or some 61,000 persons took shelter in 260 evacuation centers.
In terms of damage to agriculture and infrastructure, NDRRMC estimated the cost to be more than P900 million.
