The notorious Abu Sayyaf Group and other Islamic separatist militants continue conducting guerrilla training in Central Mindanao, a source from the intelligence community told The Manila Times on Monday.
According to the report, the source, codenamed Pokemon, said a Saudi Arabian named Abdurahman oversees the training of the Abu Sayyaf and Khilafa Islamiya Movement (KIM).
Abdurahman is said to be married to a Tausug woman.
“We still don’t know the purpose of their training and for what reasons they are training for,” the Times source said.
Abu Sayaff, KIM, and Islamic militant groups Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF), Rajah Solaiman Islamic Movement (RSIM) have earlier pledged allegiance to the violent extremist movement Islamic State (ISIS).
