Joint military and police operatives on Sunday arrested former BIFF Vice Chairman for Military Affairs Ali Mohammad Tambako in General Santos City, SecurityMatters sources said.
Tambako, the founder and chairman of BIFF splinter group Justice Islamic Movement (IJM) and alleged coddler of wanted Filipino terrorist Abdul Basit Usman, was aboard a tricycle with five other men going to the seaport when he was arrested at around 9 p.m. in Barangay Calumpang.
The bandit chief has outstanding warrants for murder and double frustrated murder issued by Judge George Jabido of Cotabato Regional Trial Court Branch 15.
His companions, believed to be members of IJM, were also arrested. They were identified as Datukan Sato Sabiwang, Ali Valley Ludisman, Mesharie Edio Gayak, Abusahma Badrudin Guiamel, and Ibrahim Manap Kapina.
Seized from Tambako and his men were three hand grenades and two short fire arms.
Prior to joining the BIFF, Tambako was a member of the Moro National Liberation Front and Moro Islamic Liberation Front.
He established the IJM soon after bolting out of the BIFF camp in 2013 after a spat with his former comrades.
