Suspected Abu Sayyaf men freed in Jolo, Sulu Thursday a businesswoman they held captive for over a month, the military reported.
Col. Allan Arrojado, commander of the Joint Task Group Sulu said in an Inquirer.net report that Hadja Dengkim Yap was released by the bandits to her family at the Jolo wharf between 9 and 10 p.m. yesterday.
Arrojado further disclosed that Yap, who was abducted last February 15 at Barangay Chinese Pier, was secretly released by the militant group.
Sulu police, meanwhile, said that the Yap family refused to cooperate with the authorities. They believe ransom was paid as the kidnappers had earlier demanded P15 million for Yap’s release.
