Three Nigerian nationals were nabbed Tuesday on suspicion of being part of a kidnapping syndicate that victimizes their fellow Nigerians.
Philippine National Police Anti-Kidnapping Group (AKG) operatives and the Bulacan provincial police arrested suspects Ifeanyi Augustine Chinwueba, Martin Okofor, and Austin Chukwueba Agu for their alleged involvement in the kidnapping of Osuoha Ikenna Amaefule and Onyedeke Ferdinand Munachiso.
According to police reports, the victims arrived in the country last June 9 to enroll in a college in San Fernando, La Union but were abducted by the suspects.
The kidnappers demanded a ransom of 6 million Nigerian dollars or roughly P1.3 million in exchange for the victims’ release but the two were able to escape after seven days of captivity.
The victims reported the abduction to the Pulilan police and an operation to arrest the suspects was carried out.
The suspects were arrested in their safehouse in Plaridel.
Kidnap for ransom raps were filed against them before the Department of Justice.
