Five inmates of the Maguindanao provincial jail managed to bolt out of their prison cell amid heavy downpour Tuesday night.
The inmates were identified as Fahad Sangki, Faisal Macarimbang. Orak Makalay, Hakino Mento, and Tampakan Antilino. They were serving jail time for rape, theft, robbery, and drug trafficking.
Jail warden Macapagal Blao said the jailbirds escaped at around 11 p.m. by cutting the window grills of Cell No. 8. Blao added that the inmates made use of a saw smuggled in by their visitors.
Macalay, Mentol, and Antilino were later recaptured in a joint pursuit operation by Army and police operatives. The three were caught trying to get through a checkpoint in Esteros District, Cotabato City at around 3 a.m. today.
Macarimbang and Sangki remain at large.
