November 17, 2016 – The agents at the Police Regional Office (PRO) in Camp Vicente Alagar in Barangay Lapasan, Cagayan de Oro City.
Authorities identified the suspects as Senior Inspector Ereneo Ramirez; chief of the now deactivated Crime against Person and Property Desk (CAPPD) and his subordinates; Police Officer 3 Alejandro Ubanan; Senior Police Officer 2 Jojo Lim; Senior Police Officer 1 Alaindelon Tacubao; and Police Officer 2 Sangkula Hussein.
The victim, 33-year-old Fernandez, was a former overseas worker. He was last seen on Oct. 23 and remains missing to date.
Closed circuit television (CCTV) camera footage taken outside the Upside Condotel in Pueblo de Oro, Barangay Balulang, showed Fernandez being mauled and forced inside a white Honda minivan by the suspects. The victim’s motorcycle was also taken.
According to NBI special investigator Pastor Oran III, the victim’s live-in partner recently sold a property worth P6.5 million, which could be connected to the motive behind the crime.
Authorities are also looking into the suspects’ alleged involvement in other illegal activities.
They are now facing kidnapping and carnapping charges.
