President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Sunday joined global leaders in condemning the recent assassination attempt on former US President Donald Trump, expressing relief over Trump’s survival.

In a statement posted on social media platform X, President Marcos expressed his profound relief at learning that Trump had emerged unharmed from the attack. “It is with great relief that we receive the news that former President Donald Trump is fine and well after the attempt to assassinate him,” Marcos stated, emphasizing solidarity with democratic principles and denouncing political violence.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with him and his family during this challenging time,” Marcos added.

Leaders worldwide, also posting on X, echoed Marcos’s sentiments, conveying their best wishes for Trump’s recovery and condemning the use of violence in political processes.

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese remarked, “The incident at former President Trump’s campaign event is deeply concerning. There is no place for violence in democracy.”

China’s foreign ministry conveyed President Xi Jinping’s condolences, emphasizing stability and non-violence in political discourse.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized, “Violence has no place in politics and democracies,” while wishing Trump a speedy recovery.

Japan’s Prime Minister Fumio Kishida underscored the importance of defending democracy against violence and expressed hope for Trump’s swift recovery.
