Authorities intercepted a shipment containing P72.8 million worth of shabu at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA). The illegal drugs were concealed in a package declared as “documents.” Both the sender and the intended recipient of the package are set to face charges under the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, which imposes severe penalties for narcotics-related offenses.
The interception underscores the ongoing vigilance of law enforcement against the illegal importation of drugs, which remains a serious crime in the Philippines.
In a separate operation in Quezon City, authorities confiscated 81 grams of shabu from a suspect who was also found in possession of an unlicensed firearm. The individual has been arrested and is facing charges of drug trafficking and illegal possession of a firearm.
These coordinated efforts highlight the government’s intensified campaign against illegal drugs and its commitment to prosecuting those involved in drug-related crimes.
