The Philippines and the United States recently conducted joint air and sea patrols in the West Philippine Sea, showcasing their commitment to maintaining regional security amid growing tensions in the area. Dubbed “maritime cooperative activity” (MCA), the patrols took place on Friday and Saturday off the coast of Palawan.
The exercises featured an impressive display of military assets, including warships, fighter jets, patrol aircraft, and the USS Carl Vinson (CVN-70), a nuclear-powered aircraft carrier symbolizing American military strength.
This operation marked the first MCA for 2025 and the fifth since its inception in 2023. The joint patrols underscore the deepening defense cooperation between the two allies as they address ongoing maritime challenges.
