Heightened Security Measures in Place to Safeguard Travelers This Holy Week

Government agencies across the Philippines have ramped up security and safety efforts to protect millions of travelers during Holy Week.

The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) placed all 44 airports on heightened alert, with the Ninoy Aquino International Airport preparing for a 20% increase in passenger traffic. Security measures include round-the-clock operations, K9 units, medical tents, and suspended leave for essential personnel. Additional help desks have been set up to ensure smooth travel.

Under “Oplan Biyaheng Ayos Semana Santa 2025,” CAAP has coordinated with agencies like the PNP Aviation Security Unit and the Department of Tourism to strengthen inter-agency response.

On land, the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX) expects 2.5 million travelers this season, especially to Bicol. The Land Transportation Office also launched “Oplan Semana Santa 2025,” deploying law enforcement to highways and terminals and warning shipping operators against overloading.

These nationwide efforts aim to ensure the safety, security, and convenience of the public during one of the country’s busiest travel periods.
