The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) in Zamboanga Peninsula has reaffirmed its commitment to community safety with the launch of a regional review of Oplan Ligtas na Pamayanan (OLP), its flagship fire prevention program. The initiative aims to strengthen fire safety strategies and ensure that communities like Ipil remain safe and resilient.
BFP Zamboanga Sibugay, under the leadership of Supt. Jacqueline Ortega was selected as one of the focus areas for the regional assessment. The Ipil Municipal Fire Station and several barangays that implemented OLP in 2019, 2023, and 2024 actively participated in the evaluation process.
“This review allows us to measure the real impact of OLP in our communities and identify how we can further strengthen our fire safety strategies,” Ortega said.
Through this comprehensive assessment, BFP gathered critical insights on public perception, program effectiveness, and community preparedness. These data points are essential in identifying both strengths and areas for improvement, ensuring that fire safety efforts remain relevant and responsive to the needs of local communities.
For residents of Ipil, the review brings direct benefits. It ensures that fire safety programs are grounded in local realities and backed by evidence, leading to more effective prevention campaigns, enhanced emergency readiness, and safer living environments.
The Regional Sunset Review Evaluation Team conducted the assessment with objectivity and thoroughness. Its findings are expected to guide future policies and programs, reinforcing BFP’s mission to protect lives and property through proactive and community-based fire safety initiatives.
Ultimately, this initiative reflects BFP’s ongoing dedication to continuous improvement and its unwavering commitment to making every community, especially in municipalities like Ipil, safer from fire-related hazards.
