On the morning of 23 February 2018, twenty-two (22) grenades were recovered and subsequently turned over to an Army Detachment in Norzagaray, Bulacan. Resident Rene B. Alcaraz surrendered twenty-one (21) fragmentary grenades and one (1) smoke grenade to the Commander of Suha Patrol Base under the 70th Infantry Battalion, Philippine Army. Alcaraz, a 59-year-old resident of Sitio Suha, Brgy. San Mateo, Norzagaray, Bulacan, is the father of CAFGU Active Auxiliary (CAA) Rey Alcaraz assigned in the same area. The fragmentation grenades were discovered during an excavation in a lot owned by a certain Juan Bernardo of same barangay last April 2005. Currently, the explosives are in custody of the Army Detachment for safety and proper disposal. An investigation is underway to determine the source and background of possessing these dangerous items.
