According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, the heavy monsoon rains and floods that plagued Metro Manila and several other areas in Luzon since Sunday have affected a total of 1,060,096 individuals as of Wednesday, August 21.
This represents 223,991 families in 1,028 villages in 80 towns and 35 cities in Ilocos, Central and Southern Luzon, Metro Manila, and Cordillera.
Eight people were confirmed dead, 41 were injured, and four remain missing. However, several areas remain flooded even as Tropical Storm Maring, which enhanced the monsoon rain, exited the Philippine Area of Responsibility.
Meanwhile, at 10:30 a.m., PAGASA has issued a Yellow Rainfall Advisory, which means moderate to heavy rains are expected to affect Metro Manila, Bulacan, Pampanga, Bataan, Zambales, portions of Rizal, Laguna, Cavite, Occidental Mindoro, and Tarlac and most likely to continue for the next three hours. Flooding in low-lying areas may still prevail.
