Three police officers from the North Cotabato Provincial Police Office were injured when improvised explosive devices (IEDs) were set off by alleged New People’s Army (NPA) rebels in Barangay Bagumbayan on Tuesday morning.
In a phone interview with the Inquirer, Capt. Manuel Gatus, spokesperson of The Philippine Army’s 57th Infantry Battalion, said the cops were responding to a reported harassment by the NPA rebels when the bomb exploded.
“There were two IEDs that exploded, which resulted in the slight wounding of the PNP members,” Gatus told the Inquirer.
The injured policemen were rushed to the hospital and are now in stable condition.
