It all began on the 25th of May 1975, when the Philippines assumed the obligation and chartered as a chapter of the American Society for Industrial Security (ASIS), the premier organization for security professionals.
On the night of December 14, 2011 at Shangri-La Hotel in Makati, the Philippine Chapter of ASIS International officially inducted its incoming officers for the year 2012 namely Col.(ret) Dencio Acop as Chairman, Estelito A. dela Cruz Jr. as Vice Chairman, Mario Manipol as Secretary, Armin Gomez as Treasurer and Jose D. Verceles III as Auditor. These incoming officers were inducted by the keynote speaker himself, Mr. Hermie Generoso Colina
One of the highlights of the event was the introduction of the keynote speaker. This was made by Mr. Henry M. Castaneda, the current Chairman of the organization. The keynote speaker of the night, Mr. Hermie Generoso Colina, is a Certified Protection Professional. He graduated from PMA Class 1980 at top of his class as a baron and is currently the Regional Compliance Officer & Security Director of Philip Morris International. He spoke on the topic of Protective Intelligence titled “Hunters and Howlers.” As an expert on the field, several questions were raised after his presentation. At the end of his talk, the ultimate goal for the issue Protective Intelligence is to “prevent an attack and not to secure an arrest or conviction”. Philip Morris Products Inc. sponsored this annual Christmas party of the Philippine Chapter of ASIS.
For more than 36 years, the Philippines Chapter of ASIS International has witnessed and experienced dramatic changes in the security industry. Now, it is up to the newly elected officers and members to manage and withstand the upcoming challenges that globalization poses and offers to the security industry today.
