ASIS International-Philippines Chapter and SecurityMatters Magazine CCTV Operators Course

Overview

Today’s security landscape became too dependent on the benefits of video surveillance that police and other law enforcement agencies are encouraging the installation and use of CCTV system in business areas. Some key cities and municipalities have already enacted local ordinances requiring business establishments to install CCTV cameras in their properties and making such system as a requirement for business permit applications without the necessary support and training mechanism.

This resulted to massive and widespread installation of cameras in both public and private areas. But what good is a technology if there is no proactive role of the system in crime prevention or detection? Is the CCTV system good only for documentation and crime solution? What is the use of a CCTV control room without any operator in active monitoring? Is the CCTV control room like a recording studio?

Vibrant economic development is manifested by the fast growth of the real estate and industrial sectors where the installation of CCTV surveillance system outpaces the availability of formally and competently educated and trained operators. To address this situation, ASIS International – Philippine Chapter, as part of its objectives to propagate security education, partnered with SecurityMatters Magazine again to conduct a series of lectures on CCTV and Electronic Security Systems.
