Ballot Snatching Reported in Monday Morning Polls

Two incidents of ballot snatching were reported in the morning of today’s barangay elections, October 28.

A ballot box was snatched from the Board of Election Teller (BET) in Antonio, Catubig, Northern Samar. The incident happened around midnight and has affected two voting precincts.

Maanwhile, another ballot box was reported snatched in Barangay Bukut Umus, Tabuan Lasa, Basilan. The snatching occurred around 7:15 a.m. in one precinct.

In the event that election paraphernalia is lost, stolen or destroyed, COMELEC provisions allow election supervisors to improvise election paraphernalia.

Unlike the previous national and local elections which were done with Precinct Count Optical Scan (PCOS) machines, the barangay election is being done with written ballots and manual counting.
