MANILA, Philippines—Two students from the Far Eastern University (FEU) ended up dead while another one was injured in a shooting incident that took place in front of the FEU campus at past 8 p.m. on Tuesday, December 4, various sources reported.

The gunman has not been identified yet, according to Police Investigator/Police Officer 2 Crispino Ocampo of Manila Police District (MPD) 4 Homicide Division.

The victims, said to be members of the university’s cheering squad, were headed to the nearby gymnasium along R. Papa Street when they were shot at various parts of their bodies.

Adrian Joseph Santiago, 17, survived from a gunshot on his back. The two other victims – Gerald Ramos, 21, and Juan Paulo Nepomuceno, 17 – died from fatal gunshots on the right side of the chest and the neck, although Nepomuceno was also shot at the back of his head.

While Ramos and Nepomuceno died at the University of Santo Tomas Hospital, Santiago is still under recovery at Mary Child Hospital.

Santiago, the lone survivor from the shooting incident, told police that the unidentified suspect stands 5’4” to 5’6” tall with long black hair and was wearing a black jacket during the attack.

Law enforcement authorities believe that a fraternity war triggered the shooting incident, although they haven’t yet established the motive behind the crime.

MPD 4 Community Precinct Commander Senior Inspector Antonio Naag, meanwhile, was relieved from office along the course of the investigation as ordered by Police Director Leonardo Espina of the National Capital Region Police Office. Espina said that Naag failed to aggressively enforce crime prevention measures within the area.
