Five Dead in Tondo Fire

Five people were confirmed dead after a fire hit a commercial-residential building in Tondo, Manila before dawn Tuesday.

Various sources reported that the fire started shortly before 4:00 a.m. at a two-story building along Sto. Niño Street in Delpan, Tondo.

In a report from Inquirer.net, Senior Inspector Romeo Pepito Jr., chief of the Bureau of Fire Protection National Capital Region Arson Investigation Section identified victims as Joana Razet dela Cruz, 21; Jamaica dela Cruz, 17; Shane, 21; and Junjun, 16. Another report said a certain Tintin also died in the blaze.

The fire reached fifth alarm but was put out at around 5 a.m.

Investigators are still trying to determine what caused the fire.
