Flashfloods hit Davao del Sur

Despite the summer heat, heavy rainfall has caused the overflow of Pilan River in Sta. Cruz, Davao del Sur Thursday (April 26), triggering flashfloods.

Residents moved out from their inundated homes after the waters came at around 7:30 p.m. Floodwaters subsided only around 7 a.m. the next day. There was no report of missing or dead casualties.

A total of 116 individuals evacuated to the Barangay Gym & GKK San Jose Chapel. Fifteen houses were totally damaged while 5 homes were partially damaged. Authorities estimated the damage at PhP300,000.
