According to the bulletin issued by PAGASA at 5 a.m. today, Typhoon “GLENDA” was located at 270 km east of Legaspi city and is moving at 20 kph with maximum sustained winds of 120 kph and gustiness of up to 150 kph.
Glenda is expected to make landfall later today in Albay-Sorsogon area.
PAGASA’s forecast stated that Metro Manila, Bicol region, CALABARZON, Marinduque, Oriental Mindoro, and Northern Samar will experience stormy weather while Central Luzon and the provinces of Romblon, northern part of Leyte, Occidental Mindoro, Aklan, Capiz, Pangasinan, Nueva Vizcaya and Quirino will have rains with gusty winds. Coastal waters are expected to be rough.
Public Storm Warning Signals (PSWS) are raised in numerous provinces that will be affected by Typhoon Glenda namely:
PSWS #3 (Winds of 101-185 kph expected in at least 18 hours)
Luzon: Catanduanes, Camarines Sur, Albay, Sorsogon, Ticao Island, Burias Island
Visayas: Northern Samar
PSWS #2 (Winds of 61-100 kph expected in at least 24 hours)
Luzon: Camarines Norte, Polilio Island, Bulacan, Masbate, Quezon, Laguna, Batangas,Rizal, Cavite, Marinduque, Metro Manila
Visayas: Western Samar, Eastern Samar
PSWS #1 (Winds of 30-60 kph expected in at least 36 hours)
Luzon: Romblon, Oriental Mindoro, Occidental Mindoro, Lubang Island, Aurora, Quirino, Nueva Ecija, Nueva Vizcaya, Pangasinan, Tarlac, Pampanga, Zambales, Bataan
Visayas: Biliran, Leyte
Because of raised storm signals, classes were suspended in different levels in several areas.
Also, several domestic flights from Cebu Pacific and Philippine Airlines were canceled because of the impending typhoon. Everyone is advised to check the status of their flights with their respective airlines.
