Security guard kills woman who allegedly extorted him

A security guard shot to death a woman who he had claimed extorted money from him.

Killed on the spot at the Philtranco bus terminal on EDSA corner Banahaw in Cubao yesterday was a woman bearing a fake ID with the name of “Christine Tugade”, supposedly a commission officer with a rank of lieutenant.

PO2 Alvin Quisumbing said that the suspect, Meladio Tindoy, 38, a security guard of Kintanar Security Agency and a former Army soldier, escaped after fatally shooting the woman.

Quisumbing determined that before the incident, Tindoy had filed a complaint against “Tugade” at the Cubao Police Station. Tindoy revealed that he had previously been dismissed from the Army after having gone AWOL, and had found employment as a security guard.

Tindoy wanted to return to the Army and “Tugade” had claimed that she could reinstate him. She had collected a total of PhP10,000 from him as payment. However, he suspected that she would not be able to do as she had claimed.

Upon Tindoy’s filing of a complaint against “Tugade”, police operatives set up an entrapment operation to apprehend her at the Philtranco terminal, where Tindoy was assigned.

Tindoy, however, shot and killed “Tugade” and escaped before the operatives had a chance to arrest her.
