ILOILO CITY — A security guard detailed at a hospital was injured after his issued firearm accidentally went off. The incident happened 1:30 p.m. of 27 January 2018 at the Medicus Medical Center in Barangay San Rafael, Mandurriao, Iloilo City. Police identified the victim as Nygiel Pedrola, 31, of Barangay Barasan, Pototan, Iloilo.
According to Chief Inspector Juvy Navales, Mandurriao police chief, the security guard was about to leave when the incident happened. He allegedly couldn’t cock his issued firearm, but tried again. The firearm went off and the bullet hit his left palm then destroyed a glass panel.
No one was hurt except for the security guard. However, Pedrola’s guard license might be suspended because of what happened.
