The Philippine Star reports, “A Korean drug syndicate is reportedly using the Philippines as its base and operating in Asia, an official said yesterday. The syndicate was discovered after a drug courier was arrested at a checkpoint in Sta. Ana, Manila Thursday night, according to Manila Police District Station 6 commander Superintendent Olive Sagaysay. She refused to name the courier “because we are using him to trace the members of the group.” Read more.
“Sagaysay said the courier led her operatives to the Victoria Court motel in Pasay City, where they arrested Park Chicheon, a chemist currently billeted at the Harrison Mansion, and his aide Ricardo Santos, 25, in a drug bust. Twenty-eight sachets of shabu were reportedly seized from Park and Santos, who told police that a group of Filipinos were renting a unit at the same condominium and acting as a conduit for the Korean syndicate.”
