Typhoon “LABUYO” (UTOR) is expected to make landfall later today, August 12, putting provinces in Luzon under storm signals.

As of 10:00 p.m. Sunday, August 11, the center of Typhoon “LABUYO” was located at 110 km Southeast of Casiguran, Aurora and is moving West Northwest at 19 kph. The typhoon has winds of 175 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 210 kph.

The typhoon is expected to hit land early in the day and by Tuesday evening, it is expected to be at 470 km Northwest of Laoag City or outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).

Storm Signal Number 3 is raised in Cagayan, Isabela, Aurora, Pollillo Island, Nueva Ecija, Nueva Vizcaya, Benguet, Quirino, Abra, Ifugao, Mt. Province, Kalinga, Apayao, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, and Pangasinan

Storm Signal Number 2 is raised in Northern Quezon, Rizal, Bulacan, Pampanga, Tarlac, Zambales, and Calayan and Babuyan Group of Islands

Storm Signal Number 1 is raised Batanes, Bataan, Cavite, Batangas, Laguna, Rest of Quezon, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, and Metro Manila

Class Suspensions

The raised storm signal number 1 over Metro Manila has prompted local governments to suspend classes tomorrow, August 12, in public and private schools. The following are the class suspension announced by local governments:

Caloocan – elementary
Las Piñas – elementary and high school
Makati – preschool to high school
Malabon – preschool
Mandaluyong – preschool to high school
Manila – preschool and elementary
Muntinlupa – elementary and high school
Navotas – elementary and high school
Pasig – elementary and high school
Pasay – elementary and high school
Pateros – all levels
San Juan – all levels
Taguig – preschool to elementary

Everyone is advised to monitor the weather reports and take precautionary measures to be safe from floods, landslides, and other hazards posed by the typhoon.
