MMDA to tag AUVs starting Dec. 12

MANILA — The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) will be implementing the tagging scheme on public utility vehicles (all non-metered Asian Utility Vehicle or AUV, shuttle and tourist buses) starting Dec. 12.

MMDA chairman Francis Tolentino said the agency will start apprehending PUVs without the color-coded license number on the roof, back and side of the vehicles.

Under the scheme, violators will be slapped with PhP500 fine.

On the second infraction, drivers will shell out PhP500 or the MMDA has the option to recommend the cancellation or suspension of the franchise to the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board.
