NAIA Terminal 3 Shooting Leaves 4 Dead, 4 Injured

(UPDATE 2) A shooting incident inside Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 resulted to at least four dead and four others injured this morning, December 20.

The shooting occurred in the arrival area of NAIA 3 at around 11:00 a.m.. This resulted to the killing of Ukol Talumpa, mayor of Labangan town in Zamboanga del Sur. Also killed were his wife, Lea and nephew Salipudin Talumpa and an 18-month baby, Phil Thomas Lirasan.

Meanwhile four bystanders were injured which included Phil Thomas’ mother and grand mother and a 3-year old child. The injured bystanders were brought to Villamor Airbase Hospital and then transferred to East Avenue Medical Center in Quezon City.

The gunmen, reported to be wearing police uniform, escaped with a motorcycle.

The Police are now investigating the incident. Reports indicate that there were no CCTV cameras in the arrival area of the terminal. The police will rely on statements of witnesses and a cellphone video shot by a witness.

Stricter inspections and longer passenger queues in all NAIA terminals can be expected. Heavy vehicle traffic around NAIA terminal 3 can also be expected.
