Nine Killed as Bomb Explodes on Passenger Bus in Bukidnon

Nine people were reportedly killed when a bomb blew up inside a passenger bus in Barangay Dologon, Maramag town in Bukidnon around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, the military said.

According to various reports, the Rural Transmit Mindanao Inc. (RTMI) bus, with plate number KVP-178, was traversing the national highway in front of Central Mindanao University when the bomb exploded.

The bus was said to have departed from Wao, Lanao del Sur around 3 p.m. and was bound for Cagayan de Oro City.

An undetermined number of injured passengers were rushed to a hospital in Valencia City, also in Bukidnon, Inquirer.net reported.

Various sources reported that an improvised explosive device (IED) was used in the bombing.

Authorities are still investigating the incident.
