There will be no number-coding scheme for vehicles on November 2 (Wednesday) in the whole Metro Manila, including Makati and Las Pinas, which do not always lift their coding policy.

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority has announced the cancellation to give way to returning commuters from nearby provinces after the long weekend.

MMDA Traffic Discipline Office OIC Yves Gonzalez has announced that Makati City Mayor Junjun Binay has decided to lift the traffic policy on November 2.

Under the number coding scheme, vehicles are banned from major thoroughfares in Metro Manila from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., depending on the last number of their license plates.

Malacanang earlier declared October 31, which falls on a Monday, “a special nonworking day throughout the country.” November 1 is All Saints Day, which is also a special non-working day when most Filipinos usually visit their dead.

President Aquino has said he declared the long weekend, “to give full opportunity to our people to properly observe the day with all its religious fervor, which requires them to travel to and from different regions of the country.”
