Passenger bus razed by suspected NPA rebels

Kidapawan City, Philippines – On 13 March 2017, suspected New People’s Army (NPA) rebels razed a passenger bus in Makilala, North Cotabato. Central Mindanao police spokesperson, Superintendent Roneo Galgo stated that the incident happened at around 8:30 A.M. in Barangay San Vicente in Makilala.

North Cotabato police report states that the Davao-bound bus carrying about 12 passengers was flagged down by armed suspects and was commandeered, leaving the passengers stranded. The bus was then driven to a remote sub-village where it was burned.

No one was harmed.
The armed suspects are part of the NPA Guerilla Front 72 who operate in the areas of Makilala and Bansalan, Davao del Sur. This comes five days after the rebels killed four police officers in Bansalan.
