Rain will continue to threaten approximately three areas in Southern Luzon, according to the
Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
This can cause flash floods and landslides in the area, said forecasters on Tuesday (July 10)
morning. PAGASA also said scattered rain showers and thunderstorms may fall over Luzon and
Visayas.

“Ang inter-tropical convergence zone ay patuloy na magbibigay sa Timog Luzon ng maulap
na kalangitan at kalat-kalat na pag-ulan at pagkulog at pagkidlat na magiging malawakan sa
Batangas, Mindoro at Palawan. Ito ay maaaring maging sanhi ng baha at guho ng lupa. Ilang
araw na kasi nag-uuulan sa western part,” said PAGASA forecaster Elvie Enriquez.

Enriquez also said a shallow low-pressure area (SLPA) spotted off the West Philippine Sea
late on Monday had already disappeared in the early morning of Tuesday. The thunderstorm
warning was also terminated early morning today. But the agency said everyone must still be
mindful of updates on possible thunderstorm occurrences.

The PAGASA forecaster also said that the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) affecting
Southern Luzon and Visayas is considered a breeding ground for low-pressure areas that could
turn into cyclones. But as of July 10, PAGASA has not detected an LPA that could become a
cyclone.

In its 5 a.m. bulletin today, July 12, Luzon and Mindanao will have mostly cloudy skies with
scattered rain showers and thunderstorms, while the rest of the country will have partly cloudy
to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms. There will be slight to moderate
coastal waters throughout the archipelago.
