Restoring the Faith in the Police Force: PNP Chief Nicanor Bartolome

Nicanor Bartolome’s appointment as the Chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP) has been deemed as a public relations (PR) move of President Benigno Aquino III.

Bartolome has experience in PR crisis management skills as the latter served as spokesperson to his predecessor Director General Raul Bacalzo and before that, to five other PNP chiefs. Bartolome would be able to prop up the ailing impression on the police force in one way or another.

During Bacalzo’s time, the PNP was discredited by the Manila hostage crisis that killed eight Hong Kong tourists, along with their hostage-taker, dismissed Senior Inspector Rolando Mendoza.
