The search for the missing Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370, carrying 239 people, is still ongoing.

The plane, a Boeing 777, went missing and is believed to have crashed last Saturday, March 8.

According to Malaysia Airlines, Flight MH370 took off from Kuala Lumpur International Airport at 12:41 a.m. early Saturday and was expected to land in Beijing at 6.30 a.m. the same day. The flight was carrying a total number of 227 passengers, including two infants, and 12 crew members.

Flight MH370 is reported to have lost communication with air traffic control as it left the Malaysian coast toward the waters of the South China Sea. No distress call was sent from the plane.

Up to present, there is no definite trace of the missing plane. Reports of debris and oil slick off the coast of Vietnam believed to be from the downed plane have not yet been confirmed.

The search for the missing plane continues. Maritime search and rescue units were deployed by Malaysia, Vietnam, China, and Philippines to help locate any trace of the plane. The United States has also sent a destroyer to join the search.

As for the relatives of the missing passengers, Malaysia Airlines said in a statement that “The airline is doing its utmost to provide support to the affected family members, this includes immediate financial aid.”
