Student Shot by Fellow Student at Pasig Chapel

Even religious sanctuaries are not spared from criminal activities these days.

A student was gunned down by another student at around 7 p.m. at the Shepherd of Life Chapel in Barangay Pinagbuhatan, Pasig City on Friday evening, November 2.

Reports said the victim was identified as 18-year-old Danny Nuevas, while the suspect was 16-year-old Nicole Jay Poblete.

According to police reports, a group of teenagers, which included Poblete, approached Nuevas, who was seated in front of the said chapel. Poblete then shot Nuevas. Nuevas was immediately brought to Pasig City General Hospital and was said to be critically wounded. But Poblete, who instantly fled the crime scene, was positively identified by a witness.  He was later apprehended from his home in Sta. Ana, Taytay, Rizal.

Pasig City police has not established a clear motive for the crime, and that they have yet to find out if the teenagers were under the influence of drugs. They are, however, already preparing to file appropriate charges against the arrested juvenile suspect in coordination with the Department of Social Welfare and Development. Police are still in pursuit for the arrest of the other suspects.
