Traffic advisory up for Quiapo fiesta

The Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has issued the traffic advisory for Monday’s grand procession of the Black Nazarene in Quiapo, Manila.

The route of the procession, which will be closed to motorists, covers Quirino Grandstand, Katigbak Drive, P. Burgos, Taft Ave, McArthur Bridge, Palanca, Quezon Bridge, Quezon Blvd, Arlegui, Fratenal, Vergara, Duque de Alba, Castillejos, Farneclo, Arlegui, Nepomuceno, Aguila, Carcer, Hidalgo, Plaza del Carmen, Bilibid Viejo,  Puyat, Guzman, Hidalgo, Barbosa, Globo de Oro, Quezon Bridge, Palanca, Villalobos thru Plaza Miranda, Quiapo Church.

Although open to motorists, expect heavy traffic along the following areas during the procession: (1) Stretch of Roxas Boulevard/Bonifacio Drive from Anda Circle to T.M. Kalaw (2) South Bound of Quezon Boulevard from Recto to Palanca (subway-Isetan Recto) (3) Stretch of Lerma from P. Campa to Quezon Boulevard (4) Taft Avenue/ Finance (5) Lagusnilad / P. Burgos (6) P. Burgos / Taft Avenue Freedom Triangle (7) Villegas / N.A Lopez (8) 25th Street / Bonifacio Drive.

Road closures will be in effect starting at 4 a.m. for the southbound lane of Quezon Boulevard from Andalucia, Fugoso to Plaza Miranda and España, P.Campa, Lerma. At 4 a.m., these roads shall be closed to traffic for Public Utility Vehicles (PUVs). At 5 a.m. however, total closure for all types of vehicles shall be implemented.

Rerouting will be implemented for all vehicles coming from Quezon City using the stretch of España. Instead, all should turn right at P.Campa, left Andalucia, and right Fugoso and left T. Mapua.

All Public Utility Jeepneys (PUJs) and light vehicles coming España intending to proceed to South Pier Zone should turn at Nicanor Reyes, right to Recto straight to Jose Abad Santos, left Riena Regente, take Jones Bridge and right Magallanes Drive.

All vehicles coming from the northern part of Manila, intending to use the stretch of Bonifacio Drive southbound, should turn right at Roberto S. Oca St., left Delgado, left Bonifacio Drive (for Port Area offices) or take right to A. Soriano to Magallanes Drive, right P.Burgos, go straight to Lagusnilad to Taft Avenue.

All vehicles coming from the southern part of Manila intending to use the stretch of P. Burgos should take T. M. Kalaw, left Taft Ave, right Ayala to Ayala Bridge to point of destination.

Private vehicles coming from the southern part of Manila intending to use the northbound lane of Roxas Boulevard should turn right at Quirino Avenue and take Nagtahan Bridge to destination.

All PUJs plying Monumento-Gasak-Recto intending to use Andalucia thru Recto should turn right Fugoso and right Oroquieta.

All vehicles coming from Legarda should turn right at Recto or left Mendiola. All heavy vehicles and cargo trucks coming from the South should take Pres. Osmeña, and right Pres. Quirino to Nagtahan via AH Lacson to Capulong (vise-versa).

Other motorist going to North of Manila or South of Manila are advised to use the stretch of Lacson to Nagtahan (vise-versa) or use the stretch of Road 10 to Roxas Blvd. (vise-versa) to point of destination.

All buses coming from the eastern part of Manila particularly G-Liner / RRCG using Legarda should turn right at Palanca St., to Quiapo Ilalim to point of origin. All buses coming from Taft Avenue going to Fairview should turn right to U.N. Avenue up to Otis, left Nagtahan go straight Lacson and then right España.

All buses coming from the southern part of Manila (Laguna and Cavite) using Taft Avenue are not allowed to enter from 7:00 a.m.to2:00 p.m. and allowed only up to Remedios Street then right at San Marcelino.
