In its 5 a.m. weather bulletin today, the Philippine Atmospheric, Astronomical and Geophysical Services Administration (PAGASA) said that Tropical Storm “Gener” was seen at 330 kilometers East Northeast of Aparri, Cagayan, with maximum sustained winds of 105 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 135 kph. It has been forecasted to move at 11 kph to North Northwest.

Provinces declared with storm signal no.2 are Cagayan, including Calayan and Babuyan Group of Islands and Batanes Group of Islands. Isabela, Kalinga, and Apayao with storm signal no.1, meanwhile, will experience rains with gusty winds, and their coastal waters will be rough to very rough.

Rest of Luzon is expected to have cloudy skies with scattered to widespread rainshowers and thunderstorms that may cause landslides and flashfloods.

Visayas will have cloudy skies as well with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms.

Mindanao will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.

The archipelago will have moderate to rough coastal waters.

By Tuesday, Gener is expected to slowly move away from the Philippines, and then take an exit Thursday morning.

Classes from pre-school to high school in Metro Manila have been suspended today. Some colleges and universities have also suspended their classes.
