Wanted Abu Sayyaf Bandit Falls in Zamboanga City

Joint military and police operatives arrested Tuesday a notorious member of the bandit group Abu Sayyaf in Zamboanga City.

Inspector Dahlan T. Samuddin, spokesman of the Police Regional Office for Zamboanga Peninsula said Abdulla Indanan alias Alkobar was nabbed by law enforcers at around 1:40 a.m. in Barangay Paniongan, Lantawan town.

Indanan, who is said to be operating under ASG leader Isnilon Hapilon, was arrested by virtue of arrest warrants for eight counts of kidnapping and illegal detention issued by Leo Jay T. Principe of RTC Branch 1, Isabela City, Basilan.

Indanan was involved in the abduction and illegal detention of employees of Golden Harvest plantation in Tairan, Lantawan in June 11, 2001.

Authorities attempted to nab Indanan at his hideout in Sitio Gapuh, Barangay Talabaan last Saturday but Indanan evaded arrest.

They were, however, able to recover bomb-making components and arrest his cohort, Salam Arula, 41.
