Young Girl Dies from Stray Bullet; New Year Injuries Now at 697

The girl who was hit by a stray bullet in the head on New Year’s Eve died at East Avenue Medical Center in Quezon City on Wednesday, January 2, at 2:26 p.m., according to latest reports.

The victim, identified as Stephanie Nicole Ella, 7, was hit by a stray bullet in the head while watching fireworks outside of their house in Malaria district, Caloocan City. Her father rushed her to the hospital immediately.

Reports said the bullet went inside Ella’s skull through the upper portion of the brain called parietal lobe. It was still stuck behind Ella’s left eye. She was in deep coma and suffered several cardiac arrests, but it was on the 8th time that she couldn’t be revived.

The owner of the gun that hit Ella remains unidentified, but police authorities believe the former also lives within Malaria district. Investigation is still ongoing.

Ella is said to be a grade one student of Tala Elementary School.

Latest data from the Department of Health revealed that firecracker-related injuries have gone up to 697.
