Five soldiers were injured while a member of the New People’s Army (NPA) was killed in a firefight in Davao Oriental early Tuesday.
Soldiers from the Army’s 67th Infantry Battalion were deployed Monday night when they received reports of NPA threats. An encounter followed at about 2:00 a.m. in Brgy. Aliwagwag in Cateel town, said Army’s 10th Infantry Division spokesman Captain Raul Villegas.
The clash lasted for 30 minutes.
The NPA also set off a bomb, which injured five soldiers. They were brought to the hospital for treatment said Villegas.
The slain NPA, meanwhile, was brought to a funeral parlor.
