A video showing a group of street kids taunting and harassing a mall security guard has gone viral.
Posted by netizen Lyka Gonzales on Facebook, the video showed two mall security guards trying to stop an irate girl from entering the mall. The footage showed that the girl was able to get inside the mall before she was escorted out by one of the guards. On her way out, she even knocked down the queue markers by the exit.
The girl’s companions, a bunch of male street kids, were seen laughing and cursing the guard from a distance. One of the kids even hurled something at the guard, hitting him in the head.
Despite the rowdy behavior of the kids, the guard held his ground, patiently and calmly telling the kids to go away.
The incident took place at SM North EDSA. SM Supermalls management has issued a statement lauding how the guard handled the matter.
“Our security personnel exercised maximum restraint against the unauthorized vendors. We thank the public for understanding and we are giving our assurance that customers’ safety is always our priority,” the statement said.
